Why : For their own reasoning, many many people have create works in a similar fashion to the creative way George Lucas brought forth Star Wars from classic myths and other elements. Then people online tracked the existence of the inspired referenced works and made listings of their favorites. So now it seems fit to build upon those listing databases to recreate the original movies.

Nerf-herders-anonymous.net created by L. Mangue is a massive archive of fan submitted Star Wars related textual material. To my knowledge, this was the biggest and most active collection of television and movie references and inspirations. Other websites collected both so there are many listings around. IMDB.com and TV.com both share a currently active user base which contributes references. To unify these efforts, the :F:L:I:M:S:I:P:L:A:S:T: :D:A:T:A:B:A:S:E: has attempted to combine all these sources into a massive listing. The :F:L:I:M:S:I:P:L:A:S:T: :D:A:T:A:B:A:S:E: will be the source list for this project. (FD-SW-Inspiration, FD-SWMov-Refs, FD-SWTV-Refs)

How you can help :
Please recommend sites which have reference listings. They might only have one or two, but you'll never know where the next one might come from. Often found in a shows reference database or wiki-page, but many Star Wars fan pages from the 1990s often have listings.

1. Finding Inspirations or References.
Search high and low. Vague descriptions or actual quotes, date or title information are clues.

1.a. Verifying Inspirations or References.
Subtitles and transcripts can verify. Also episode Title and Air date can be useful.

2. Identifying location of Inspirations or References.
Timecode and Dialog of visual description.

3. Collecting Inspirations or References.
Got a copy, any quality or size. Let me know where it is or how to get it.

4. Tell people who might be interested.
Locating people who are Watchers with a general or extreme knowledge of the Star Warses.

How you can help :
Take a look through the :F:L:I:M:S:I:P:L:A:S:T: :D:A:T:A:B:A:S:E: lists. Identify new ones and let us know of missing information. If you find yourself watching any of those videos let us know approximate when the references occur. Especially the movies which take 2 hours to find the 2 second reference.

Status: (Suggested / Identified) Inspirations - 42 / 1 Television - 2747 / 547 Movie - 914 / 10

Since there will be sources from 240x180 to 1920x720 and every size and aspect ratio in between, not sure yet of the final presentation stats. But leaning toward upscaling everything to some HD something or other.

Final Product :
1. Maybe a DVD. Figuring if 3000 inspirations or references can be found and 1500 collected, (Up that to 5000:2500 for a 10 year goal) that might be enough material for the same amount of time as the original movies. The material could possibly be sequenced as the movies, interdispursing the other bits throughout. Most likely the first half would be ANH references and the second half would be all the other movies.

2. Interactive website. Second option would be to put all these bits into a database which could be retrieved in some form through a simple web interface.
