Brief History
On September 24, 1992, the Sci-Fi Channel began broadcasting. This new network would be dedicated to showcasing movies and television of the science fiction / fantasy variety. Their opening program was the first Star Wars film.
Throughout the 1990s, the Sci-Fi Channel would air the Star Wars movies with special guest hosts. Carrie Fisher would host the movies in 1993 when the channel aired the three films back-to-back-to-back for the first time. In 1995, Billy Dee Williams was brought in to host the premiere of the widescreen letterbox Star Wars Trilogy.
